A passenger is permitted to use their electronic devices when the aircraft is above 10,000 feet, primarily because this altitude typically signifies that the aircraft has reached its cruising altitude, where it no longer needs to be closely monitored by pilots for takeoff or landing. At this point in the flight, all critical phases that require optimal focus from both the crew and the passengers are completed.

The guideline for electronic device use acknowledges that below 10,000 feet, aircraft operations are more sensitive and may require full attention from both crew and passengers to ensure safety protocols are maintained. Once the aircraft is past this altitude, regulations are more lenient, and the use of personal electronic devices can be more relaxed, assuming that they are in airplane mode to avoid interference with the aircraft's systems. This regulation helps balance passenger comfort and safety during the flight.
